Scott Swaldo, Gervasi Vineyard General Manager, recently announced that Gervasi is looking forward to celebrating its Five Year Anniversary this month. Gervasi Vineyard, founded in 2010, is a 55-acre estate nestled around a picturesque lake with beautiful grounds, vineyard, winery, Italian bistro, wine bar and eatery, marketplace, outdoor pavilion, conference center, culinary and wine education center, and an onsite AAA Four Diamond award-winning boutique inn.
Gervasi Vineyard opened its doors to the public on March 16, 2010 and since then has grown into a leading regional tourist destination. The original concept of renovating the historic 1823 barn for a winery and small restaurant ultimately emerged into the development of Gervasi Vineyard into a true destination property.
Swaldo explains this impressive growth through five distinctive phases:
- Phase 1: the inaugural opening of the Bistro, Winery, Vineyard, and Marketplace in 2010.
- Phase 2: the opening of the Piazza (patio) and the outdoor Pavilion followed shortly afterwards.
- Phase 3: the establishment of Gervasi Village in 2011, comprising of the Villa Grande, the Villas, the Cucina, and the Conservatory.
- Phase 4: the much anticipated grand opening of the Crush House in 2013.
- Phase 5: the introduction of the newest addition to the Gervasi Destination properties, the Twisted Olive, which opened in the City of Green on November 3, 2014.
Gervasi Vineyard is a family owned and family inspired project (the Swaldo Family), integrating their traditional Italian heritage with the many interests of the family including great food, wine, fun, and appreciation for beautiful things. They wanted to create a special place where adults and families could gather to “Celebrate Life” (the company motto) and enjoy unique and memorable experiences.
Join Gervasi Vineyard as they “Celebrate” five years of continuous operational expansion, significant employment growth, robust economic impact, and providing a strong sense of civic pride. A genuine regional treasure, Gervasi Vineyard is helping to boost our local economy by attracting out-of-town visitors. Gervasi welcomes over 175,000 visitors annually and this number steadily continues to grow.
The Swaldo family is fully committed to a brighter and stronger future for our area, a commitment demonstrated by their continued reinvestment in Gervasi Destinations and our community. This steadfast commitment has benefited the area in numerous ways including significant job opportunities, they are tremendously proud to commemorate the growth from an original team of 60 to over 375 employees. The Swaldo family chose to “Celebrate Life” in Stark County and as a result the entire region has greatly benefited.
