The SoMe Awards & Forum, to be held in Portland, Oregon on May 22, 2014, honors the best social media campaigns by marketing agencies, in-house teams and freelancers from across the Unites States. Now in its 6th year, the awards are an opportunity for those to celebrate accomplishments made to help themselves or their clients in the ever growing world of social media.
The Lake County Visitors Bureau has been named a Finalist for this national competition with their “Go Local” entry. This entry highlights the best use of social media by a local business to develop a committed following.
Past 2013 winners included Neiman for Neiman Labs out of Philadelphia, PA; North for Keen Footwear out of Portland, OR; AEG Global Partnerships Division for Chevrolet Sonic out of Los Angeles, CA; V-Day One Billion Rising out of New York, NY; and Colorado Technical University out of Colorado Springs, CO.

The Bureau is incredibly honored to have been chosen as a finalist by the following 2014 judges:
Jonah Sachs, Co-Founder and CEO, Free Range Studios
Jonah Sachs is an internationally recognized storyteller, author, marketer, designer and entrepreneur. For the past 14 years, Free Range has brought key social issues to the attention of millions of people with renowned viral videos like The Meatrix and The Story of Stuff. The company has also delivered major brand storytelling and design projects for Autodesk, Greenpeace and the American Civil Liberties Union. Jonah has helped hundreds of major brands and social causes break through using an empowerment marketing approach that fuses ancient storytelling techniques with digital media. Jonah and his work have been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, FOX News, Sundance Film Festival, NPR, The Colbert Report, The Huffington Post and Fast Company Magazine, which named him one of the 50 most influential social innovators. Additionally, his work has received three “best of” awards from the SXSW Interactive festival.
Billie Goldman, Partner Marketing Manager, Intel Corporation
Since 1995 Billie Goldman has been an innovator for Intel in press relations, sales, product marketing, brand awareness and preference and most recently in partner marketing. In each role, Billie has left an indelible mark as a creative catalyst. Billie’s most recent accomplishments include producing the ground breaking, award winning social films “The Beauty Inside” and “The Inside Experience,” in partnership with Toshiba.
Toni Wallace, Director, Strategic Marketing at Sony Music Entertainment
Toni has seven years of experience defining and leading new digital products, channels, and marketing strategies/programs for next generation businesses and brands in consumer online services, entertainment, new media, and mobile. Toni’s mission is to enable artists at all levels to give their art to the world by creating innovative business strategies, products, and services that deliver best-in-class consumer experiences anytime, anyplace, no restrictions.
Pamela Rutledge, PhD, MBA, Psychologist/Social Technology Strategist/Director @ Media Psychology Research Center
Pamela Rutledge is Director of the Media Psychology Research Center, a nonprofit dedicated to research, assessment and development of media technologies based on positive, narrative and cognitive psychologies. She is also faculty director of the Media Psychology Program and adjunct Faculty in Leadership Psychology Doctoral Program at Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology, adjunct faculty at Fielding Graduate University, and an instructor and advisory board member for UC Irvine Extension’s Internet and social media marketing certificate programs. Ms. Rutledge teaches Media Psychology & Social Change, Social Media & Emerging Technologies, The Psychology of Website Design, Audience Profiling, Narrative Media, and Transmedia Marketing through Storytelling.
Jerri Lynn Hogg, Media Psychologist, Social Media Psychology Specialist, Educational Online/Virtual Consultant and Senior Research Fellow
Jerri Lynn Hogg is an educator and a sponsor for advocacy and social change. Her specialties and research interest include social media, how we communicate in a digital world, augmented reality, media reform, digital image, transmedia, audience profiling, public relations, marketing, imagery, design, and culture.
