It’s Christmas in July with the first annual Medina Elf Fest on Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm throughout Medina’s Historic District at Miss Molly’s Tea Room, Medina Funtastic Toyz and Castle Noel in collaboration with Fred Hargrove Young Artists and Buckeye Community Theatre.
The fun kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with a delicious Elf Breakfast at Miss Molly’s Tea Room, located at 140 W. Washington. Enjoy waffles with green topping, crisp bacon, apple juice, beverage and Buddy’s “World’s Best Coffee.” The cast of “Elf Jr., The Musical” will be there to join in. Then it’s off to Medina Funtastic Toyz for a special visit and photo with Buddy the Elf and a gift for the children. Come dressed in your finest Elf, Elf Princess or Snow Queen costume or come in a costume as your favorite character. First, Second and Third Place Prizes from Funtastic Toyz and Castle Noel will be awarded for the Best Costumes.
The Elf Family Masquerade Parade begins at 11 a.m. in front of Medina Funtastic Toyz led by Medina Mayor & Mrs. Dennis Hanwell. All of our Elves, Princesses, Snow Queens and others will march up to the Medina Square, circle around the Square and then head to Castle Noel. The parade will be broadcast live on Facebook by Castle Noel. Remember, the best way to spread Christmas Cheer is singing loud for all to hear!
Enter the magical world of Castle Noel with special guest and movie star Drew Hocevar, the disgruntled Elf from “A Christmas Story”. You’ll take a guided journey through the Castle and meet the cast of “Elf Jr., The Musical” during your tour. Mark Klaus has created a one-of-a-kind photo opportunity for you to be an “elf.” See movie star Will Ferrell’s costumes from “ELF” and recite the “Code of the Elves”. Priceless souvenir slide photos will be available of Buddy from the cast of “Elf Jr. The Musical” and “A Christmas Story” movie star Elf. Each guest receives one of the elves’ main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn or syrup.
Tickets for adults and children are $25 and include the breakfast, gifts, parade and Castle Noel tour. They can be purchased at Miss Molly’s Tea Room or by calling 330-725-6830. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the projects of Fred Hargrove Young Artists. Tickets are required to participate in the festival. Tickets are limited, so call or go to Miss Molly’s to secure this day of fun.
To make the experience complete, plan to see the Fred Hargrove Young Artists’ production of “Elf Jr., The Musical” at Medina High School Middle stage on August 4, 5, 6 and 7. Tickets for the musical are available at Buehler’s, Miss Molly’s and Castle Noel. For more information go to www.bctohio.org.
