Tickets are on sale for Medina’s annual “Walk with Spirits of the Past” scheduled for September 8, 9, and 10, 2016. Tickets will be sold during business hours at Ormandy’s, 10 Public Square, Medina. The total number of tickets available for each night will be limited. The entire walk will be wheelchair accessible.
The Medina Show Biz Company, the Medina County Historical Society, and the Medina County Arts Council, will cooperatively stage the event from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10. For the Walk, guides will lead groups from the County Administration Building at 144 North Broadway Street to different sites around the Public Square area where the dramatic performances will take place. On Sunday, September 11, at 3 p.m. an audience will be able to “Dine with Spirits of the Past” at a special Afternoon Tea at Miss Molly’s on West Washington Street.
Each fall since 1996, local actors from the Show Biz Company have given performances that tell stories of the lives of Medina pioneers and bring to life the people who made history in early Medina. The actors will use costumes and simple props as needed to add to the entertainment of the stories. The actors portraying a character are: 1880 Burial (Jennifer Knaggs, Carolyn Robinson, Charie Richards); Couth House Explosion (Mike McClintock); Albert Munson and Annie Chamberlain (Ron Svoboda and Gary Linden (slip Munson) Amy Annico; Early Newspaper (Mark Levigne); A.I. Root (Barry Frey); Mrs. Dalton Eddy (Cyndi McClintock); ticket taker will be Zenus Hamilton (Charles Ramer). Research for all the stories to be presented are done with the help and writing of members of the Medina County Historical Society.
Adult tickets may be purchased for $5.00 if purchased in advance, and tickets for all children 12 and under may be purchased in advance for $2.00. Tickets purchased on the day of the event may be purchased only at the beginning point of the Walk in the parking area of the County Administration Building. Day of event prices are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for all children 12 and under.
Reservations for the Tea are $23 and must be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling Miss Molly’s at 330-725-6830. Co-Chairperson, Donna Bica of the Show Biz Company, is directing the 2016 performances as she has done each year in the past. Co-Chairperson Tom Hilberg, representing the Historical Society, is scheduling guides and arranging ticket sales. The Arts Council Outreach Committee is coordinating publicity and the distribution of flyers.
